04 Jun Why We Should Embrace Failure
– The beautiful calibration that comes after heartache –
There’s ONE thing that so many of us are striving for, and that’s to be MORE of who we really are. And this is part of what makes failure so difficult for us, because we tend to take it personally. We tend to ask, “What did I do wrong” in our effort to course-correct … because we don’t want to go through that kind of failure again!
There’s one simple shift in perspective that can help us embrace failure, without disempowering ourselves. We’re talking about the beautiful recalibration that can happen after heartache … whether it’s a failure in business, failure in a particular project, or even failure in a relationship (whether at work or at home). Because if we can recalibrate into more of who we really are, we’re taking steps toward our next success.
But sometimes we end up looking too much at the practical side of things. We look at our business, or the project that just failed, or our part in making things go so wrong in our relationship. At our core, we don’t really want to know what went wrong. What we’re really reaching for is, “How can I become more of who I am? How can I reach and expand?”
As humans, we have a deep desire to find something outside of this physical illusion, outside of what we see in the physical world. Because on some level, we understand that a failure in the physical world isn’t who we are, it doesn’t define us. A failure in the physical world is an illusion, asking us to rise above it, and become more than what we’re seeing.
I hope today’s episode inspires you to look more closely at your successes, your failures, AND surprisingly, your relationships.
